Bovisa Triennale presents the exhibition & Mao Kiefer by Germano Celant. artist Anselm Kiefer's interest for the cultural-political role of Mao Zedong in Western history, through 35 works including paintings and art books.
Kiefer's painting, large format, is the result of solidification of historical memory.
Landscapes and people are mixed with sand and lead materials, sunflowers, refer to the thickness of time and figures of the Central European culture.
In this process, begun in 1969, is the series of large canvases depicting the figure of Mao, painted from 1998.
It is not always easily recognizable, sometimes appear deserted ramparts.
